Let's Make A Bahamian Conch Salad!

You simply can’t visit the Bahamas without experiencing a Bahamian "conch salad" - a staple of the Island. Without a doubt, a fresh bowl of conch salad with its flavourful profiles is certainly the perfect way to taste your way into Bahamian culture.


If you haven't had the pleasure of watching a master prepare this beautiful artwork, here is your chance!

Firstly, you'll need to start with some freshly chopped tomatoes, onions and green peppers. This adds not only to the flavour but gives it its bright and vibrant colour.

Now it's time for the main attraction - the conch!


If you've never had the chance to taste this local delicacy, it's known to have a chewy and slightly rubbery texture while tasting a bit like crab meat.

Mix it all together and add fresh orange and lime juice. This zesty addition not only creates a flavourful concoction but this blend also serves to partly “cook” the meat.

Now it's time to enjoy! Personally, I'm not a huge fan of chewy seafood but the zesty addition really adds a lot of flavours and its quite surprising that such a small dish can be so powerful. Also, it's actually quite filling!
