Birthdays with little ones always feel so special—like another milestone you want to hold on to forever. This year, when our son turned another year older, we wanted to celebrate in a way that felt joyful, memorable, and most importantly—affordable.

The Caribbean is never short on beauty. Every island has its own rhythm, its own flavor, its own reason to keep you coming back. Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to explore quite a few — from quiet Bonaire to colorful Curaçao, romantic St. Lucia to the all-inclusive vibes of the Dominican Republic. But one island always stands out as different: Dominica.

When you think of the Caribbean, most people picture white sand beaches and turquoise water. Dominica flips that script completely. Known as the Nature Island of the Caribbean, it’s all about waterfalls, rainforests, and mountains wrapped in mist. And at the top of the list of places to see is the Emerald Pool — one of the island’s most visited attractions.
