We have survived!!!!
We have made it through many sleepless nights which at the time felt never ending.
We have survived the numerous nerve wreaking milestone checkups to the pediatration. But more so, we have seen our little one grow into the little human that he is today - so bold, full of light and many facial expressions that never cease to make us laugh.
We survived our first year of parenthood relatively unscathed and together stronger than ever.
While we had no intention of celebrating - as we were returning home from our trip to Vancouver a mere 2 days prior, Steven reminded me that this is indeed a big milestone that deserves to be celebrated. So we decided to keep it simple and sweet with a DIY animal themed party at our home.
Here's what we did to pull it together: Theme
Our theme for this roaring celebration is "Charlie Turns a Wild One". Think lush greenery, adorable animal prints, and plenty of safari-inspired decorations to set the scene for an unforgettable day.
Invitations To kick off the excitement, we sent digital invitations that set the tone for our wild adventure. The invites featured playful animal illustrations which we found effortlessly on canva.com.
The Cake and Decor
No birthday party is complete without a birthday cake, and for Charlie's wild one celebration! Our cake was a masterpiece of edible art, featuring layers of chocolate chip cookies for the children and pina colada for the adults adorned with fondant jungle animals.
It was almost too adorable to eat... almost!
As for the decor, we transformed our patio into a jungle paradise. Giant, colorful balloons creating a lush canopy overhead with green and gold leaves peeking out from amidst the arch.
Food and Drinks
No party is complete without delicious refreshments to fuel our little adventurers, and Charlie's wild one celebration was no exception! We curated a menu that catered to both kids and adults, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy. From savory cheese, tuna, and ham sandwiches to a selection of fresh fruits bursting with flavor, guests had plenty of options to satisfy their cravings. And what's a birthday party without a sweet treat? Our assortment of cookies delighted taste buds with every bite. To quench our thirst after a day of jungle exploration, we offered a variety of refreshing drinks for guests of all ages to enjoy. Kids sipped on colorful juices while adults indulged in Smirnoff twists, complemented by classic choices like Coca-Cola and ginger ale. Traditional favorites like apple juice and orange juice provided the perfect refreshment on a sunny afternoon in the jungle.
Charlie's first birthday party was a wild success, filled with laughter, love, and plenty of jungle fun. From the themed decorations to the delicious cake and exciting activities, every moment was truly memorable. As we watched our little explorer play and laugh surrounded by family and friends, we couldn't help but feel grateful for the joy he brings into our lives each and every day. Here's to many more wild adventures ahead!
